Research Abstract
Dr. Lin leads an Advanced Microscopy Group in the MGH Center for Systems Biology and Wellman Center for Photomedicine, where cutting-edge optical imaging techniques are being developed for in vivo cell tracking and molecular imaging studies. The research group is composed of a multidisciplinary team of optical engineers, physicists, biologist and chemist all working together to advance our understanding of the in vivo behavior of immune cells, cancer cells, and stem cells in disease models and in transplantation settings. There are several custom-built onfocal and two photon hybrid microscopes in Dr. Lin's laboratory, each one tailored for a specific live animal imaging applications. A new system is currently being developed for image-guided laser microsurgery. Dr. Lin has also developed an in vivo flow cytometer for real-time detection and quantification of fluorescent cells in the circulation without the need to draw blood samples.
